Loch Primary School is nestled in the delightful township of Loch, surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of South Gippsland.

At Loch Primary School our enrolment process includes a tour of the school, meeting with the Principal or Assistant Principal to discuss your child’s needs and the official enrolment forms for you to fill out either online or on paper.  Along with the enrolment form, we need to take copies of your child’s birth certificate or passport and their immunisation certificate. Enrolments are available in Term 1 and Term 3, or as negotiated if you are moving to the local area.

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.

Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Our school also has additional capacity available to welcome students who are outside of our school zone.

The Department provides guidance through the Enrolment: Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and the freedom to choose other schools, subject to facility limitations.

2027 Foundation (Prep) enrolments  

All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school.   

You can apply to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) in 2027 from Monday 20 April 2026.  

What you need to do:  

  1. Contact our school on 5659 4254 to book an optional school tour.  
  2. Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called Enrolment Form Link  This will take you to the Service Victoria website and you can login or create an account.
  3. If you wish you can download the Foundation (Prep) enrolment information pack from Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) (available by Monday 20 April 2026). This pack includes guidance on the application process.   

 

Enrolment applications submitted after 31 July 2026 will be processed by our school as they are received, in accordance with the department’s Enrolment Policy.

Other year level enrolments  

We also accept enrolment applications for students in other year levels. You can submit a request at any time in the school year.   

Eligible students who live within our school zone are guaranteed a place, while students outside the zone may be enrolled if there are available places.  

In Term 4 each year, we offer a “Loch Lyrebird” Kinder to Prep Transition Program.  We run 8 sessions throughout term 4 to allow children to acclimatise to the school and to build relationships with their peers and teacher.  We also run a whole day session in December each year on the State-wide Transition Day (usually the second Tuesday in December).

Tours available by appointment

We are a small rural school – approximately 140 students.

  • Once a week student choice elective subjects – some of the options in the past have been – Boot camp, cooking, gardening, computer programming and a variety of craft subjects
  • We have school two therapy dogs and free range chickens
  • We have before school care each morning from 7.00am and after school until 6:00pm
  • Breakfast club Friday mornings at no cost from 8.20 – 8.45am
