Cooperative Learning Groups
Our students join together in multi-age groups once per week to participate in Cooperative Learning activities. Years 5 & 6 students take on leadership roles and work closely with their younger students. These groups participate in a wide variety of experiences including practical activities such as cooking, art and craft, building social and emotional skills such as role plays, guest speakers and social stories, preparing for special events and celebrations, walk to school, crazy hair day, book character dress ups, drama and working in the school gardens. Throughout all of these activities is the focus on developing our core values; resilience, responsibility, creativity, respect and curiosity and doing your best. Our students build strong, genuine relationships across the school at all year levels and we see evidence of this in our playground and during events where older students show great care and empathy for our younger students and where our younger students trust and rely on their older peers.
