Investigations & Inquiry

In our junior classes students participate in regular investigation sessions where they are able to explore concepts, manipulate materials, build & create, complete science experiments and role play. Teachers structure investigations with clear learning intentions and facilitate and guide students learning through a variety of learning centers.

Students in middle and senior years participate in structured integrated units of inquiry. These units of work include learning about specific topics and engage students in critical, creative and ethical thinking; providing a balance of student led and teacher driven inquiry provides opportunities for students to extend their learning and / or receive support as needed. These units are highly engaging whilst preparing students to become active, caring, lifelong learners who demonstrate respect for themselves and others. Demonstrating Learning in this manner develops students who have the capacity to participate in the world around them. It focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer and community member, both within and beyond the classroom.
